Towns in Lappland

Kiruna
The most northern municipality in Sweden, and the largest to its size. Kiruna is also concidered to have the second largest town area in the world after Mount Isa in Australia. In the beginning of the last century, 65% of the population were speaking finnish, 24% sami and only 11% were speaking swedish.

Dorotea

Dorotea is a municipality in the southern part of Lappland. The village, Dorotea has a population of 1571 people.


Jokkmokk

This municipality is in the more northern part of Lappland, Jokkmokk has a population of 2976. The town of Jokkmokk's name has also been the source of the japanese company Yoku Moku who sell cookies and delicates in Japan but also USA. The owner of the company, Noriichi Fujinawa visitek Jokkmokk once and loved the village for its architecuture and population, so he decided to name his company after this town, Jokkmokk = Yoku Moku.
